The 7 Principles of Spiritualism
1. The Fatherhood of God
God is the eternal spirit – the divine energy in the entire universe.
This force, whatever name given to it, has created all there is and sustains all that has been created. This Divine Spirit is infinite, and exists within us and all around us. This Divine Energy is within all. As this energy is within us we can comfortably say that we are all connected as part of one family.

2. The Brotherhood of Man
When we begin to accept that we as humans, are all members of the same divine family then we can fully comprehend the true meaning of the brotherhood.
If we acknowledge that God is the father, then we must be all God’s children. Therefore we are all brothers and sisters in one universal family regardless of colour, creed or stance in life. This then confers upon us a responsibility to God and to each other the commitment to help all people.

3. The Communion of Spirit and the Ministry of Angels
The communion of spirit is often considered to be the essential part of spiritualism.
As Spiritualists, we use the ability to communicate with spirit and the angelic beings directly via medium. The main purpose of communication is to provide evidence of our philosophy and to emphasise the fact that we are never alone. We are always connected to the spiritual world and to the Creator. The love from spirit and creator is our soul’s pathway and this love never ceases.

4. The Continuous Existence of the Human Soul
The philosophy of Spiritualism is that all people have a continuous spiritual existence which extends beyond the physical life into eternity. Spiritualism teaches us that there is no beginning and no end. The universe is just energy and is infinite. After death, the physical body is left behind whilst our spirit continues in another dimension where it can progress further.
5. Personal Responsibility
Spiritualism asserts that if you transgress the laws of nature you will suffer in proportion to your transgression. Each individual is personally responsible for their own thoughts, words, and actions (whatsoever a man soweth that also shall he reap)
Good intent and good deeds contribute to happiness whilst bad intent and bad deeds contribute to future suffering. Every action generates a force of energy that returns to us in the like kind. We alone are responsible for all that we do . We have the ability to make our own decisions. We can use our wisdom and knowledge to improve out own lives as well as the lives of others.
We have a choice.

6. Compensation and Retribution for all Good and Evil Deeds on Earth
When we mention that there will be compensation and retribution hereafter for all good and evil deeds done on earth, we are merely saying as you live this life you are determining the course of your future life in the spiritual world.
This principle expresses the true nature of the law of cause and effect. As we move through life making choices we are responsible for our actions. The outcome of those choices affect out soul’s growth. For example, if you do evil or neglect your development you are merely developing your soul in such a way that it will demand a period of painful struggles to undo and amend, however, if you have lived a good life with good ethics, respected your neighbour and used your opportunities to help yourself and others in positive ways you will enjoy the advantages of your earthly efforts in a form of spiritual advancement and happiness in the hereafter. In simple words, we reap what we sow.

7. Eternal Progress Open to every Human Soul
Eternal progress of the soul is open to every person. We all have the power within us to increase in wisdom and in love. Spiritual progress is within our grasp and we have the choice to act to change our views and philosophy for the purpose of a soul’s growth. We can then begin to create a positive outcome for ourselves and others.
By acknowledging the first six principles of Spiritualism and the philosophy related to those ideals we can begin to accept that there will always be an opportunity to develop and move forward in the progression of the growth of the spirit.
